We have seen another of those current Chinese films, yes, another one of those that are made almost without thinking, with little budget, little time and without much idea of what you want to do. It is called The mistery mausoleum and it is an adventure film and grave robbers, surely inspired by the success of the Mojin saga (which we already discussed in this blog at the time), but in reality it does not approximate what we live with previous. We will not extend much with this review because there is not much to say about it, you can imagine where we are going ...

The story begins by telling an ancestral legend about an almighty queen who is locked in a coffin inside a grave excavated underground to restrict her power. Already today, a blind professor and his assistant have been investigating this legend for a lifetime and have discovered that it could be true and where the grave could be found, so they decide to find it and reveal its secrets to the world; but there are also three thieves who learn that there could be a great treasure and follow the scientist to the place in question to keep everything that has value. But the tomb will not be so easy to discover, open and decipher, with a lot of riddles that will have to do with Taoism and some lesser-known Chinese mythology; there they will find a thousand traps, mazes and even a pseudo army of zombies that will try to stop them, but thanks to their skills and knowledge they will be able to reach the end and discover the truth.
The truth is that telling the story seems like a great adventure movie, even with some additions that could make it very attractive, but when we see it on the screen we realize that it is a simple copy and that it has also lost any trace of emotion or action that could give it a bit of a claw.
Not only in its way of presenting the story is the worst, but it also has some special effects (all in CGI, of course) quite cheap, representing something that should be spectacular, but that looks more false impossible.

Ridiculous characters
The characters are also quite ridiculous, perhaps with a decent look (especially we love the thief who joins almost halfway through the movie), but without any hint of personality, motivation or even clear goals. Of course, all very young and quite handsome, to attract a youth audience (or almost rather childish) in the easiest way possible.
Also the way of telling the story, completely linear and without having to think anything at any time, points to that type of audience, jokes, quite stupid, action scenes, almost non-existent, but the few that are almost without movement or the ease in solving puzzles; Everything is designed for the film to enter the simplest minds and free them from thinking.
With some quite ridiculous actors, which for the role of thug, funny, tough girl, smart girl, etc. they already hit, but as soon as they have to show some emotion, etc. They are already very short.
In short, we have swallowed what is probably a TV movie for the girl to watch on Sunday afternoons when they get bored and their parents want to leave them hooked on TV; Nothing remarkable in it.
