Today we want to make a small review of an Asian movie that you can all see, that many times we talk about difficult things to find and it is not funny just to read about them. Today's film is The wandering earth, one of the latest science fiction balls made in China, which has had a great impact and box office in his country, although we have not been convinced. The film comes from a highly successful book and has been acquired by Netflix, so you have no excuse if you want to see it now.

The story begins when in our solar system, the sun begins to expand due to natural causes; it is then that the Earth begins to experience the effects of this phenomenon and one has to think about how to avoid it before it destroys all forms of life; the accepted solution is to install giant rockets on one side of the planet, for rotation and make it move linearly to another solar system that is in better condition, but for this, the population has to take refuge underground, and there is only time to build underground cities for half of humans, so, by means of a raffle some are saved and others are not. Once in context, the film itself focuses on a young rebel who is eager to experience life abroad and his father who is a scientist who is watching the operation from a space station; and how they should react and save the situation when the Earth passes near Jupiter and is diminished by the force of the attraction of its gravity, stopping all the rockets and starting to destroy everything on the planet.
Starting to watch this movie without having seen any trailer, without knowing its plot, etc. (lately we prefer that the movies catch us by surprise), only with comments and fame, we had thought it would be pure science fiction; but no, rather it is an action movie based on a science fiction environment, but forget about any possible philosophical implication, fantastic elements, future predictions or all these typical elements of the purest science fiction; You will not find it here.

And although the film is completely made in China, we already warn you that it has been made taking into account a show scheme very similar to the one currently used in Hollywood: with a rhythm that obeys the needs of the most popcorn spectator, with quite simple characters and nothing credible (at least for a story like this) but with a good design and easily identifiable by the younger audience, and finally assuming a great show based on the special effects of the film and not on its original conception.
What we must say in its favor is that it is undoubtedly one of the greatest productions we have seen in China, with a lot of money invested in all its aspects and creating a visual spectacle that intended to be unique (although next to the large American productions may have stayed a little halfway.)
And perhaps what has demotivated us most about the film has been its end, in which it is only intended to lengthen the action and try that the show never ends, creating a very typical scene in action movies, with a lot of motivation for its protagonists, all very beautiful and full of love and extolling values such as companionship, patriotism, personal sacrifice, etc. Together this whole final has not only made the film much longer than we endured, but it has given us a lot of laziness to finish the film.
And with all this, of course, what we miss most is a bit of the personality that any movie made in China has, we already know that many times we complain about its exaggerated patriotism, its unimaginable fantasy, of always wanting to put something of mythology wherever or trying to get a deep message of everything; But precisely now we realize that these are its defining characteristics, and that its cinema is not the same without all of them.
In short, a super production as seldom had been achieved in China, but more based on offering an audiovisual show and demonstrating the level of special effects that is done in China, rather than looking for what science fiction really means. All very Hollywood in general.
