We were already avid for the most extreme Asian cinema and we have shot the new Noboru Iguchi movie, one of our idols and perhaps the most fun of all Japanese extreme directors. Its title is Ghost squad and, although it has very good intentions, we must say that, compared to the rest of the director's filmography, it has remained a bit small, both in extremism, as in humor, as in everything in general. Anyway it is an event that we could not miss and here we will tell you a bit (not too much, since it does not have much).

The protagonist of the story is a young Japanese schoolgirl not very happy and with a special ability, and she can see the spirits of dead people. One day he decides to interact with one of them and realizes that he can even talk to them and understand them; it is then that she begins to have problems with an abuser who wants to spread with her and the spirit she had known, along with other dead schoolgirls help her to end the evil one; but in return, the next day they will look for her among all (including her best friend, who without her knowing it was also a spirit) to ask her to help them take revenge on her murderers so that she can rest in peace. The girl cannot believe it, she even tries to take her life away desperately, but in the end they convince her that only when she is on the border between life and death, the spirits can take a corporeal form and give the villains cane . With different ways of creating a strong relationship between them, the girl will not only give them the ability to touch things, but will provide them with very powerful weapons to fight with, so they can face their murderers.
The truth is that coming from a director with Iguchi and with a poster and summary like the one we had seen a while ago, we expected much more from this movie; at least, as always it would have to be a splatter movie full of blood and guts, even more beast than normal, since you always want to overcome the present, or if not at least a film of absurd humor of those in which no You can stop laughing. But neither one thing nor the other, the film is really not bad, but not in the company has reached the expectations we had of her.

If we look only at his argument, the truth is that it is quite funny, and it cannot be denied that it is something original, an idea that no one had had: starting from a film like The Sixth Sense, getting to create an army of spirits with Special weapons to fight humans. What happens is that its execution leaves much to be desired. Normally we are already accustomed to this type of Japanese B series movies, in which we have a totally spectacular start to get hooked, during most of its knot it makes us a very important downturn, but it keeps us history, and in the end they are unmarked with something unexpected, although not as explosive as its beginning. But this scheme has not been followed here, and the whole movie in general is quite slow, adding an unusual duration for these types of productions, the truth is that we have become very long and somewhat heavy, everything and have a couple of scenes in which it seems that it will be animated, with a sensational image, a very cane music and a promise of action, but that after the presentation of the scene they deflate again and we end up just as we were.
If to all this we add some other problems such as the extremely bad performance of each of its protagonists, that background music taken from erotic film, those special effects and make-up of a small child make us think that, or has not even put a Hair care in this movie, or it is actually a movie for children, but a little bit of tone.
Anyway, not everything is bad, because in addition to some beginning of action that has not just curdled, we also have some inventions and some very funny scenes, almost all focused on fighting against Japanese machismo, but some occurrence of the Iguchi is to split box.
In short, we are left with the desire that a project as original as this would have been done in a big way and as Japanese splatters are usually to have a movie of those to enjoy as dwarves. We have become quite heavy, even if it has its scenes of sex, violence, blood ..
