T-O-R Dragon blade, chinese tokusatsu
 Full Movie
 Trash-o-Rama Dragon blade

Today we have another one of those crazy deliveries of extreme Asian cinema that offers us the best limited collection of DVDs in our country: Trash-o-rama. On this occasion it is again the Made In China subsello, which shows us the latest Chinese action movies that are being made right now as churros. The movie in question is Dragon Blade and is basically a copy of Japan's most classic tokusatsu (Ultraman type).

 Very nice girls
The story is set in the future, in a world where the kaijus have attacked more than once and the intergalactic heroes called UltraWarrior have faced them saving the Earth on several occasions; in fact all the monsters entered the planet through a wormhole that transported them from other times and dimensions, until humanity manages to make a space station with which to block this hole. There are currently some new heroines on Earth: the Dragon blade, which are idols by day and save the world with their cool tokusatsu costumes when necessary; they only fight against human evildoers until the aliens try to steal a gem that will reopen the portal (the Teseracto? or something very similar) and let in an entire army of invading demons. The girls will try to stop the aliens together to a hacker with very special abilities, although for that reason they have to disobey the norms of their organization; At first everything will be fine, but the enemies also have powerful beings with tokusatsu costumes to face them.

So far so good, a somewhat typical story, but very cool, especially if you see the designs of the suits, etc. The problem is that most of the story is told in a spoken way in the first minutes, the rest of the movie happens almost without reflecting anything of a future world, of aliens, of demons or anything like that, it's just a story of three girls that they are doing things as good they can not to screw it up, with some personal dilemmas (in reality without any relevance) and showing a little their life outside of being superheroines and the relationship with other people that neither goes nor comes to history.

And best of all is its lack of originality, although all the designs are new and cool, although the fights have their own style, etc. This is still a Chinese copy of a Japanese product, and when we say a copy, we say it literally, because even the theme of idols, movie style, times, etc. Everything is nailed from any recent Tokyo series (more specifically Ultraman).

 Dragon blade
 Typical tokusatsu fighting
Yes it is true that in the midst of so much nonsense that we see in the film, we have small action scenes that try to save it just in the moments of most boredom; but these scenes do not make our day either, they are basically based on CGI characters flying across the screen and giving each other a host every now and then, it's really a little sad all together. Taking the action part and comparing it with the traditional tokusatsu, he loses all the grace to enter (even if somewhat roughly) the martial arts in the fights; if we compare it with modern tokusatsu, the special effects have no point of comparison, here they look much more amateurs, not because the designs or characters are badly made, but because of the poor mobility they have, as they integrate between them, etc.

But even so and considering that it is a pretty bad movie (if not, we could not see it in Trash-o-rama), although the rhythm is a bit low for almost all the time, we consider it to be somewhat entertaining, trying to mix world of idols with that of superheroes (although it is not the first time it is done); and above all, taking into account the objective of this production, we believe that it complies more than well with the proposal, which in our opinion is a modern version of the tokustatsu that the director saw as a child, brought to the present so that Chinese children now have the same fun and not only that, but enjoy it from a local hero, that their elders had never had, and if possible continue with the adventures of these girls, since in reality it seems more like a pilot episode of a series than a movie in itself.

In short, if you are very fond of tokusatsu, here you will find an aberration that will at least make you laugh at cheap Chinese copies; If you are a child audience (I do not think, if not, you would not be reading this blog), you will surely love this movie; If you are great movie buffs, you already know that Trash-o-rama is not for you, normally.
 The best of the movie:
We have found a group and some very modern and cool designs.

 The worst of the movie:
Not having been able to see the beginning of the story, which was done even more underground.
